چکیده

مطلب مقاله حاضر اثرات عدم قطعیت اقتصادی جهانی و عدم قطعیت ناشی از سیاست تجاری در ایالات متحده را برای پیش بینی جریان اوراق قرضه و سهام به ترکیه در طول دوره ژانویه ۲۰۰۸ تا نوامبر ۲۰۱۹ بررسی می کند. ما از آزمون علیت گرنجر متغیر با زمان برای ارزیابی توانایی عدم قطعیت سیاست اقتصادی و جریان سرمایه برای پیش ‌بینی بازارهای سهام و اوراق قرضه ترکیه استفاده می کنیم. و از داده‌ های سطح سرمایه در جریان سهام و اوراق قرضه که توسط پایگاه داده جهانی تحقیقات صندوق سرمایه گذاری نوپا (EPFR) گردآوری شده است بهره می بریم. هرچند ما هیچ نشانه ‌ای از علیت در آزمون علیت گرنجر استاندارد را نیافتیم، اما آزمون علیت استواری با متغیر زمان، دوره های مهمی را مشخص می ‌کند که رابطه علی بین جریان ‌های سرمایه و شاخص ‌های عدم قطعیت را نشان می دهد؛ به ویژه در دوران بحران مالی جهانی و انتخاب دولت ترامپ.

1 مقدمه و پیشینه مطالعات

Abstract

This paper investigates the effects of global economic uncertainty and trade policy–related uncertainty in the US in predicting the bond and equity flows to Turkey during the period from January 2008 to November 2019. We use the time-varying Granger-causality test to assess the ability of economic policy uncertainty and capital flows to forecast Turkish equity and bond markets using fund-level data on bond and equity inflows compiled by the Emerging Portfolio Fund Research (EPFR) global database. Although we found no evidence of causality in the standard Granger-causality test, the time-varying robust causality test detects significant episodes that imply a causal relationship between capital flows and uncertainty indexes, especially during the global financial crisis and the election of the Trump administration.

1 Introduction and literature review

A substantial surge in capital flows to emerging markets (EMs) has occurred in recent decades. The rising global appetite for risk in an environment of low interest rates and abundant liquidity in developed countries, coupled with improving growth prospects in individual EMs, has expanded the cash flows to domestic financial instruments. These trends helped EMs fill their savings gaps, finance their current account deficits, and access relatively cheaper global funds. Furthermore, because of the rise in real exchange rates in times of robust capital inflows, EMs recently enjoyed low and less-volatile inflation, which had not been seen in their history before the 2000s. Because of these favorable liquidity conditions, in the posteglobal financial crisis (GFC) period, the Turkish economy did not experience a major financial crisis due to either regional or global spillover, which had been observed on several earlier occasions (Comert & Selman 2018). Nevertheless, the GFC, mainly initiated in developed countries, had implications for the EMs because they are highly dependent on external capital due to a low savings rate. Apart from the GFC, in some cases, the reductions in the capital inflows have led to signs of financial instability, including volatility in exchange rates and inflation as well as bankruptcies. Examples include the European sovereign debt crisis in the second half of 2011, the so-called taper tantrum after May 2013, and normalization of monetary policy by the US Federal Reserve (the Fed) from 2015 until late 2016 (Fig. 1). Overall, although capital flows contributed to a positive growth environment and less-volatile inflation and exchange rates in EMs, they also resulted in high debt in EMs (Fig. 2) and led to significant instability in their financial markets because of the potential for sudden reductions in capital flows.

چکیده

بخش مالی در آموزش عالی، منبع اصلی اطلاعات مالی در آموزش عالی می‌باشد. کاربران سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری در آموزش عالی مرکزی، در واقع از کاربران بخش مالی هستند. بخش مالی به یک بخش درآمدزا و یک منبع پرداخت هزینه‌های بوجود آمده در همه واحدها و بخشهای آموزش عالی تبدیل شده است. نوآوری برای حل مسائل مربوط به کیفیت سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری در آموزش عالی با در نظر گرفتن دیدگاه مالی می‌تواند عوامل خارجی عدم قطعیت محیطی را که بر کیفیت سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری در آموزش عالی تاثیرگذارند، پیش بینی کند. عدم قطعیت محیطی بر 56% از سیستم اطلاعات حسابداری تأثیر می‌گذارد. عوامل عدم قطعیت محیطی، عمدتاً از نظر تأثیر عدم قطعیت محیطی توسط پاسخ دهندگان در بخش مالی آموزش عالی مورد توجه قرار می‌گیرند. ابعاد عدم قطعیت محیطی تأثیر زیادی بر ابعاد کیفیت سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری دارد که با بالاترین میزان ضریب وابستگی 0.865 نشان داده شده است، برای مثال، تأثیر انعطاف پذیری عدم قطعیت محیطی بر کیفیت سیستم اطلاعات حسابداری. و کمترین میزان تأثیر عدم قطعیت محیطی بر دسترس پذیری سیستم اطلاعات حسابداری به صورت 0.613 نشان داده شده است. 

مقدمه

این پدیده از یک دیدگاه فردی در مورد تأثیر عدم قطعیت محیطی بر اجرای سیستم اطلاعات، پدیده انعطاف پذیری است که به گفته وزیر تحقیقات و فن آوری M.Nasir (2015) (1)  سیستم مالی در حوزه PTN-BH از انعطاف پذیری کمتری برخوردار است، مانند دشواری در مدیریت بودجه Kemendikbud بطوریکه جذب بودجه پایین است و سیستم گزارشدهی مالی اعمال شده توسط وزارت دارایی (MoF) بسیار پیچیده است و مطابق با فعالیتهای پویای آموزشی نیست، بدین معنی که عواملی که نمی‌توانند این فعالیت پویای آموزشی را پیش بینی کنند موجب انعطاف پذیری کمتری در سیستم مالی PTN-BH می‌شوند. 

نتیجه گیری

بنابراین از بحث و تجزیه و تحلیل فوق می‌توان نتیجه گرفت که:

1. عدم قطعیت محیطی بر کیفیت سیستم اطلاعات حسابداری تا 4/56٪ تأثیر می‌گذارد.

2. عدم قطعيت محيطی اغلب توسط پاسخ دهندگان در بخش مالي آموزش عالي از نظر عدم قطعیت محيطي مورد توجه قرار گرفته است.

3. ضریب کیفیت سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری اغلب توسط پاسخ  دهندگان بخش مالی آموزش عالی از نظر یکپارچگی سیستمهای اطلاعات حسابداری مورد توجه قرار گرفته است. 

Abstract

The finance department in Higher Education becomes the main source of financial information in Higher Education. Users of accounting information systems in the central Higher Education, one of which is the Finance section. This Finance Section becomes a revenue-earning part and a source of fees expenditures incurred in all departments and faculties in Higher Education. Innovation for problem solving on the quality of accounting information systems in higher education by looking at the financial point of view can anticipate the uncertain external environment factors that affect the quality of accounting information systems in higher education. Environmental uncertainty influence to the quality of the accounting information system of 56.4%. Environmental uncertainty Factors are most noted by respondents with Higher Education financial section is in terms of the effect of environmental uncertainty. Accounting information systems quality Factor is most noted by respondents with Higher Education financial section is in terms of the integration of accounting information systems. Influence of dimensions of environmental uncertainty against the dimensions of the quality of accounting information systems, large influence shown by the highest value highest contingency coefficient of 0.865 i.e. influence state environmental uncertainty flexibility towards accounting information system quality. And the smallest influence shown by the effect the environmental uncertainty towards accessibility accounting information system quality of 0.613.

INTRODUCTION

The phenomenon as an individual perspective on the environmental uncertainty that affects the implementation of the system becomes inflexible proposed Minister of Research and Technology M.Nasir (2015)[1] which states that the financial system in PTN-BH constraint is less flexible, such as difficulties in managing the budget given Kemendikbud, so that the absorption of the budget to be low and the financial reporting system applied by the Ministry of Finance (MoF) is quite complicated and not in accordance with dynamic academic activities, meaning that factors that have not been able to anticipate this dynamic academic activity cause the financial system in PTN-BH less flexible.

Conclusion

So from the above discussion and analysis results can be concluded that:

1. Environmental uncertainty influence to the quality of the accounting information system of 56.4%.

2. Environmental uncertainty Factors are most noted by respondents with Higher Education financial section is in terms of the effect of environmental uncertainty.

3. Accounting information systems quality Factor is most noted by respondents with Higher Education financial section is in terms of the integration of accounting information systems.

Abstract

We investigate whether accounting conservatism can be explained as a rational response to ambiguity. Decision analysis shows that decision rules that work well under ambiguity put greater weight on negative than on positive outcomes, i.e., exhibit caution. Accounting conservatism increases the timeliness of bad news that is more relevant under cautious decision rules and thereby helps corporate managers and investors implement them. We, therefore, hypothesize that firms facing greater ambiguity report more conservatively. We adopt two different measures to proxy for the firm-specific level of ambiguity. First, we identify firms pursuing the “prospector” versus “defender” business strategies. Compared with defenders, who focus on utilizing existing resources, prospectors actively create their future by seeking new business opportunities and thus face greater ambiguity. Second, we conduct an additional set of tests based on environmental scanning, which reduces ambiguity. Both sets of results suggest that firms facing greater ambiguity report more conservatively.

5- Summary and conclusions

In this paper, we empirically investigate the relation between accounting conservatism and ambiguity. Recent studies demonstrate that studying ambiguity often provides useful insights that are difficult to derive in the standard expected utility framework with risk. We, therefore, believe that it is important to develop reliable empirical proxies of firm-level ambiguity that prevails over relatively long periods. One of the goals of our study has been to take a step in this direction. Although the empirical proxies that we use do not allow us to draw definitive conclusions, our results suggest that the theory of decision-making under ambiguity sheds new light on the relations between the properties of accounting information and firm fundamentals. Specifically, in contrast with the principaleagent theory, which focuses on contracting among known parties (typically, managers and the providers of capital), decision-making under ambiguity emphasizes unknown threats and for this reason offers a rather different set of insights and solutions. Cautious decision rules, which call for paying more attention to bad outcomes than to good ones and thus reduce the probability of catastrophic failure, serve as one such solution that has been widely used since ancient times. Through this lens, conservative bias in financial reporting is viewed as a way of making the decision rules more robust to errors stemming from various sources, be it the actions of unknown strategic opponents or decision-makers’ own cognitive biases. This decision-theoretic explanation supports the traditional rationale of conservatism as a prudent response to uncertainty.

Integrated Financial and Operational Risk Management of Foreign Exchange Risk, Input Commodity Price Risk and Demand Uncertainty

Abstract

In this paper, we study the risk management performance of a supply chain which is exposed to foreign exchange risk, commodity price risk and demand uncertainty. We develop an integrated risk management model which uses both financial derivatives and operational methods to hedge the supply chain risks. Findings are discussed for the cases of exchange rate risk with and without hedging.

1 Introduction

In this paper, we develop a model that incorporates an integrated financial/operational approach to risk management when managing risks along a supply chain. The risks of the supply chain consist of foreign exchange risk, uncertainty in the price of its input commodity and uncertainty in the demand for its output. The risk management methods used by the supply chain consist of financial derivatives and the use of operational hedging methods. We examine the performance of the supply chain’s integrated risk management approach and focus on the impact of foreign exchange risk on this performance. We illustrate our model and its application by a study of a supply chain which consists of an aluminium can supplier, a brewery and a beer distributor. The domestic currency of the can supplier, brewery and beer distributor is the Canadian dollar (CAD). The input to the can supplier consists of aluminium sheets whose price is denominated in US dollars (USD). The volatility in the exchange rate between the USD and the CAD is the source of foreign exchange risk. The commodity price risk is due to fluctuation in the USD denominated price of the aluminium sheets. Demand uncertainty is due to variability in the demand for beer. Risk management is accomplished by controlling the inventory of aluminium sheets, aluminium cans and beer as well as by using options on aluminium futures, whose premiums as well as the underlying futures price are both denominated in CAD. The performance of the integrated risk management approach is quantified by the expected total opportunity cost of the supply chain.

Our paper adds to the existing literature on the benefits of integrating financial and operational methods in risk management. Operational approaches include real options such as switching production between plants located in different countries to supply different markets to protect against fluctuations in a currency exchange rate (Kogut and Kulatilaka 1994, Huchzermeier and Cohen 1996). The use of real options is integrated with the use of financial instruments in models developed by Mello et al. (1995), Chowdhry and Howe (1999) and Hommel (2003) to manage demand uncertainty and foreign exchange risk. Ding et al. (2007) use postponing of capacity allocation in addition to foreign currency options. Triantis (2000) notes that firms exposed to exchange rate risk can use financial derivatives to manage the short term impacts of transaction risk but cannot affect the long term effects of competitive risk. In their studies of multinational and non-financial firms, Allayannis et al. (2001), and Kim et al. (2006) find that geographical dispersion of a firm’s activities is an operational hedging strategy that is complemented by the use of currency derivatives to hedge against foreign exchange risk. However, Aabo and Simkins (2005), who survey firms to determine their use of real options and financial instruments to manage foreign exchange risk, find that a majority of the firms would prefer to manage their exposure with real options.

Financial and operational risks faced by the beer supply chain studied are presented in Section 2. We describe in detail the integrated risk management model incorporating financial and operational hedging instruments in Section 3. Findings and concluding remarks are discussed in Section 4 and in Section 5, respectively.

نوسانات قیمت نفت نقش مهمی در سیاست های اقتصادی جهانی برای کشورهای توسعه یافته و کشورهای درحال توسعه دارد. نقش قیمت های بین المللی نفت را در ساختار 1) شوک عرضه نفت، 2) شوک تقاضای انباشته، و 3) شوک های تقاضای خاص بازار نفت بر اساس کار کیلیان (2009) با استفاده از چارچوب VAR ساختاری در عدم اطمینان سیاست های اقتصادی بازارهای نمونه، طبقه بندی میکنم. عدم اطمینان سیاست های اقتصادی به دلیل رفتار غیر خطی آن در چارچوب تغییر رژیم با شوک های ساختاری نفتی منقطع، است. نتایج ما نشان می دهد عدم اطمینان سیاست های اقتصادی هند، اسپانیا و ژاپن به شوک قیمت جهانی نفت پاسخ می دهد، اما شوک های تقاضای کل هیچگونه تغییری ایجاد نمی کنند. شوکهای تقاضای نفت تنها برای چین و هند در حالت نوسان پذیری قابل توجه است. 

1- مقدمه

با توجه به مطالعه ی همیلتون (1983)، پژوهشگران در گذشته با شواهد تجربی رابطه شوک قیمت نفت و متغیرهای کلان اقتصادی (Cunado and De Garcia، 2005؛ Lardic and Mignon، 2008) دسیسه چینی کردند. در میان دیگر متغیرهای کلان اقتصادی، اثرات عدم اطمینان اقتصاد کلان در مورد آینده، موضوع جالبی است. ادبیات موجود در مورد عدم اطمینان سیاست اقتصادی، شواهدی از تأثیرات قابل توجه آن بر روی اوراق بهادار سهام (Andersen et al.، 2009؛ Brogaard and Detzel، 2015)، فرصت های سرمایه گذاری (بلوم و همکاران، 2007) و نوسانات بازگشتی را نشان می دهد (بلوم، 2009).

6- نتیجه گیری

ادبیات در حال حاضر بینش ارزشمندی را درمورد تاثیر افزایش قیمت نفت در متغیرهای کلان اقتصادی نشان می دهد. این بدون در نظر گرفتن وضعیت اقتصادی هر کشوری، به خاطر اهمیت ارزش جهانی نفت در تأثیرگذاری بر هر اقتصاد و تقاضای انرژی در حال افزایش است. هر گونه افزایش قیمت نفت می تواند نااطمینانی سیاست های اقتصادی یا اقتصاد کلان را در یک کشور ایجاد کند. اگر چه رشته های فعلی ادبیات مربوط به رفتار اقتصادهای مختلف تا نوسان قیمت نفت می باشد، نویسنده به دنبال یافتن رفتار غیرخطی نفت با استفاده از مدل سوئیچینگ مارکوف است. این تکنیک از مزیت اتخاذ رفتار غیر خطی قیمت نفت برخوردار است که می تواند با مدل های غیر خطی سنتی سنجیده شود. برای درک کامل رفتارهای قیمت نفت در عدم اطمینان سیاست اقتصادی، شوک عرضه نفت، شوک تقاضای کل و شوک های تقاضای خاص نفت را معرفی کردم. تأثیر این شوک ها توسط دو حالت رژیم مربوط به حالت نوسان پذیری کم و زیاد بدست می آید. 

Abstract

Oil price fluctuations have influential role in global economic policies for developed as well as emerging countries. I investigate the role of international oil prices disintegrated into structural (i) oil supply shock, (ii) aggregate demand shock and (iii) oil market specific demand shocks, based on the work of Kilian (2009) using structural VAR framework on economic policies uncertainty of sampled markets. Economic policy uncertainty, due to its non-linear behavior is modeled in a regime switching framework with disintegrated structural oil shocks. Our results highlight that Indian, Spain and Japanese economic policy uncertainty responds to the global oil price shocks, however aggregate demand shocks fail to induce any change. Oil specific demand shocks are significant only for China and India in high volatility state.

1- Introduction

Since the work by Hamilton (1983), researchers in the past are intrigued by empirical evidences of the relationship between oil price shocks and macro-economic variables (Cunado and De Garcia, 2005; Lardic and Mignon, 2008). Among other macro-economic variables, effects of macro-economic uncertainty about the future sparks great interest. Existing literature on economic policy uncertainty provides evidence of its significant effects on equity portfolios (Andersen et al., 2009; Brogaard and Detzel, 2015), investment opportunities (Bloom et al., 2007) and returns volatility (Bloom, 2009).

6- Conclusion

Current literature provides valuable insights about the impact of raising oil prices on different macro-economic variables. This is because of the importance of global oil prices in affecting any economy and an ever-increasing energy demand regardless of the economic status of any country. Any escalation in oil prices can induce either economic or macroeconomic policy uncertainty of a country. Although current strand of literature deals with the behavior of different economies to oil price fluctuations, author aims at capturing nonlinear behavior of oil using Markov regime switching model. This technique has the advantage of capturing non-linear behavior of oil prices that would be difficult to gauge with traditional non-linear models. To have a complete understanding of oil prices behavior on economic policy uncertainty, I introduced oil supply shock, aggregate demand shock and oil specific demand shocks. The effect of these shocks is captured by two regime states corresponding to low and high volatility state.

چکیده

توسعه فرآیند، کلید رقابت در صنایع فرآیند است. البته کمبود بودجه ها اغلب برای پروژه های توسعه فرآیند که مربوط به حدود سازمانی که هم شامل خریداران و هم شامل فروشندگان است مزاحمت ایجاد می کند. ما عدم قطعیت و ابهام را بعنوان پیشایندهایی شناسایی کرده ایم که سبب این تأثیرات منفی می شوند. ما مفاهیم کاهش و عملکرد این دو متغیر را هم بررسی کرده ایم. یک تحقیق تجربی بر روی 52 پروژه توسعه فرآیند مشترک نشان میدهد که تیم های پروژه، عدم قطعیت را از طریق مشارکت زود هنگام کاربر نهایی کاهش میدهند، درحالیکه ابهام را می توان توسط فعالیت های حل مسئله مشترک در بین خریداران و فروشندگان کاهش داد.

مقدمه

توسعه فرآیند بعنوان کلیدی برای رقابت در صنایع فرآیند و در صنایع تولیدی دیگر شناخته می شود، چون سبب افزایش بازده تولید، کاهش هزینه ها، و رضایتمندی شرکت از رقابت می شود (آیلن 2013؛ پیسانو 1997؛ رابرتسون و همکارانش 2009؛ وان روئیج 2005). توسعه فرآیند نیازمند طراحی و اجرای تکنولوژی و تجهیزات ماشینی فرآیند جدید یا بهبود یافته است (OECD, 2005). پروژه های توسعه فرآیند از لحاظ زمان و پول عموماً بزرگ هستند، و شامل چالش های مدیریتی مهمی هستند (اسکات-یانگ و سامسون 2008). در واقع یک مطالعه اخیر توسط ارنست و یانگ (2011) نشان داده است که پروژه های توسعه فرآیند در صنایع فلزات و مواد معدنی (صنعتی که مطالعه حاضر هم بر آن متمرکز است) توسط کمبود بودجه 70 درصدی یا بیشتر محدود می گردند. در نتیجه، طراحی و اجرای یک تکنولوژی فرآیند جدید یک تلاش ضروری و البته ریسک آمیز است که اگر بصورت ماهرانه مدیریت نشود، می تواند مزیت های رقابتی بلند مدت و اعتبار مالی شرکت ها را بصورت جدید به خطر بیاندازد (فیلیپو و کینگ 2011).

علیرغم فرآیند جمع آوری جامع ما (که از یک پیش مطالعه کیفی و 251 مخاطب تحقیق تشکیل شده است)، نمونه کلی برای مطالعه حاضر محدود به 52 پروژه بود که توسط چهار شرکت فرآیند سوئدی و فروشندگان تجهیزات آنها انجام می شد. نمونه غیرتصادفی و اندازه نمونه محدود مطالعه حاضر، پتانسیل تعمیم به جمعیت بزرگتری (فراتر از حیطه مطالعه حاضر) را محدود می سازد. خصوصاً طرح تحقیقاتی میان بخشی ما می تواند دارای مفهوم ضمنی علیت باشد (بجای اینکه آنرا اثبات کند). یک نمونه و طرح تحقیقاتی طولی بزرگتر و جمع آوری داده به مدت چندین سال و همچنین در محیط های فرهنگی دیگر (مانند آمریکای شمالی یا آسیا)، برای تحقیقات آینده مناسب خواهد بود.

Abstract

Process development is key to competitiveness in process industries. However, budget overruns frequently plague process development projects which span organizational boundaries to involve both buyers and suppliers. We identify uncertainty and equivocality as key antecedents causing such negative effects, and investigate the reduction and performance implications of these two variables. An empirical survey of 52 joint process development projects show that project teams reduce uncertainty through early end-user involvement, whereas equivocality can be reduced by joint problem-solving activities among buyers and suppliers.

Introduction

Process development is regarded as a key for competitiveness in process industries and in other manufacturing industries, because it increases production yields, cuts costs, and allows firms to contend with competition (Aylen, 2013; Pisano, 1997; Robertson et al., 2009; van Rooij, 2005). Process development involves developing and implementing new or significantly improved process technology and machinery equipment (OECD, 2005). Process development projects are typically large, in terms of both time and money, entailing significant management challenges (Scott-Young and Samson, 2008). Indeed, a recent study by Ernst and Young (2011) found that process development projects within the metals and minerals industries (the industry on which the present study focuses) are commonly plagued by budget overruns of 70% or more. Consequently, developing and implementing new process technology is a necessary but risky endeavor that may seriously endanger long-term competitive advantages and the financial viability of firms if not managed proficiently (Filippou and King, 2011).

Limitations and outlook

Despite our comprehensive data collection process, consisting of a qualitative pre-study and 251 survey respondents, the total sample for the present study was limited to 52 projects conducted by four Swedish process firms and their equipment suppliers. The nonrandom sample and limited sample size of the present study limit the potential to make generalizations to a larger population beyond the scope of the present study. In particular, our cross sectional research design can only imply, rather than prove, causality. To this end, an even larger sample and longitudinal research design with data collection over several years, as well as in other cultural settings (e.g., North America, Asia), would be beneficial for future research.

Uncertainties in road vehicle suspensions

Abstract

Road vehicles are subject to random excitation by the unevenness of the road. For a dynamical analysis, vehicle models of the vertical vibrations as well as guideway models of the road unevenness are required. The fundamental dynamics of vehicle suspensions can be already modeled by a quarter car featuring the decoupling of the car body motion and the wheel motion. This suspension model is characterized by five design parameters where two of them, the shock absorber and the tire spring, are highly uncertain due to wear and poor maintenance. For the assessment of the vehicles performance three criteria have to be used: ride comfort, driving safety and suspension travel. These criteria depend on all the five design parameters resulting in a conflict or a pareto-optimal problem, respectively. In this paper, the uncertainties of the parameters are projected into a criteria space in order to support the decision to be made on the basis of a pareto-optimal problem. Simulations with uncertainties support the robust suspension design. It is shown that controlled suspension parameters remain uncertain due to the unpredictable decisions made by the driver

1 Introduction

Road vehicle suspensions generating propulsion and guidance forces are essential for driving safety. These forces are mainly controlled by the driver accelerating, braking and steering the vehicle. Statistics of road fatalities since 2001 in Europe 1 show a strong reduction from 54.900 to 31.500 in 2010 and 26.000 in 2013, see Fig. 1. The main reason for this encouraging development is the introduction of occupant protection systems. In 1998 the federal legislation made airbags mandatory in the United States, and since 2006 the wearing of seatbelts is compulsory in all vehicles throughout the European Union. On the other hand, a survey2 on the cause of accidents with physical injury from 2012 shows that three-fourths of them are due to driver malfunction, while still one-fourth has other reasons, including vehicle malfunction by uncertain design parameters.

In this paper, the vehicle and guideway modeling with uncertain parameters is considered and the assessment criteria for vehicle-guideway-systems are presented and analyzed by the covariance analysis. Multicriteria optimization and uncertainty analysis are performed with the software FAMOUS based on fuzzy arithmetic and introduced to multibody dynamics by Walz and Hanss .
