عده ي زيادي اين ويلا را به عنوان اولين كار معمار سوئيسي Corbusier ميدانند اين كار با شكوه به عنوان يك نمايش هنري از يك ارائه معماري به ياد ماندني است. اين بنا درواقع در سال 1929 به پايان رسيده است.
اين بنا حاكي ذكاوت Corbusier است كه 5 نكته قابل توجه دارد كه غريزه ذلتي او را در زمينه زيبائي شناسي معماري نشان مي دهد كه با بتن مسلح ساخته شده است 5 نكته:
1- piolotis يا ستونهاي زمين كه باعث ارتفاع سازه از سطح زمين شده است و بنا را در برابر نم زمين حفظ مي كند و باعث شده كه باغچه چسبيده به بنا باشد.
2- تراس مسطح سقفي كه فضا را براي خانواده اصلاح كرده و منظره باغ را در دسترس قرار مي دهد.
3- نقشه آزاد كه ديوارهاي تحمل كننده بار را حذف كرده و در عوض در هر جا كه لازم بوده پارتيشن هائي كذاشته شده.
4- پنجره هاي افقي كه باعث روشنائي مناسب و تهويه خوب شده است.
5- نماي خارجي با طراحي آزاد و بدون محدوديت به وسيله تحمل كننده هاي بار و متشكل از پوسته اي باريك از ديوار و پنجره.
ویلا ساووی برای تعطیلات آخر هفته در خارج از شهر طراحی شده است که در نزدیکی روستایی به نام Poissy واقع شده است . که بوسیله درختان زیادی احاطه شده است . که با کنتراست داخلی چند رنگ و رنگ سفید خارجی است .
دوران عمودی بوسیله شیب ها و همینطور طبقات تسهیل سازی شده است .این بنا در جنگ جهانی دوم در معرض خطر نابودی قرار گرفت ولی بعدها بازسازی شده و در معرض دید عمومی قرار گرفته است.
Corbusier بنا را طوری طراحی کرده که بتوان از سقف مسطح آن استفاده کرد ولی در عوض سقف کارائی خود را از دست داد و سقف دچار رخنه و خرابی شد و موجب شکایت صاحبان خانه شد و آنها سعی کردند که Corbusier را به دادگاه بکشند .به هر حال در آن زمان WW2 ورشکست شد و Corbusier آن محل را ترک کرد و بنا را در حالی که نیاز به تعمیر داشت رها کرد.

این بنا هیچ شباهتی به محل های شهری ساخته شده جدید توسط Corbusier ندارد .
باز بودن فضای Poissy باعث شد که بنا به صورت ساده ای باشد و 5 نکته که قبلا ذکر شد تحقق یابد . ویلا با داشتن قوسها ، مارپیچها ، پله ها و سقف مسطح و فضای با ز بیرونی و
طراحی بدون کلیشه به بنائی منحصر به فرد تبدیل شده است .

The Villa Savoye is considered by many to be the seminal work of the Swiss architect Le Corbusier. Situated at Poissy, outside of Paris, it is one of the most recognisable architectural presentations of the International Style. Construction was substantially completed ca. 1929. The house was emblematic of Le Corbusier work in that it addressed “The Five Points”, his basic tenets of a new aesthetic of architecture constructed in reinforced concrete: The pilotis, or ground-level supporting columns, elevate the building from the damp earth and allow the garden to flow beneath. A flat roof terrace reclaims the area of the building site for domestic purposes, including a garden area. The free plan, made possible by the elimination of load-bearing walls, consists of partitions placed where they are needed without regard for those on adjoining levels. Horizontal windows provide even illumination and ventilation. The freely-designed facade, unconstrained by load-bearing considerations, consists of a thin skin of wall and windows. The Villa Savoye was designed as a weekend country house and is situated just outside of the small village of Poissy in a meadow which was originally surrounded by trees. The polychromatic interior contrasts with the primarily white exterior. Vertical circulation is facilitated by ramps as well as stairs. The house fell into ruin during World War II but has since been restored and is open for viewing. Corbusier designed the building to use a flat roof, a move he said was for functionality, though may have been partly due to way it looked for him. Indeed the roof failed its functionality, as the roof leaked, causing the owners to attempt to take Corbusier to court. However at the same time WW2 broke out, and Corbusier left the area, leaving the building in a state of disrepair. Villa Savoye Commentary “Unlike the confined urban locations of most of Le Corbusier’s earlier houses, the openness of the Poissy site permitted a freestanding building and the full realization of his five-point program. Essentially the house comprises two contrasting, sharply defined, yet interpenetrating external aspects. The dominant element is the square single-storied box, a pure, sleek, geometric envelope lifted buoyantly above slender pilotis, its taut skin slit for narrow ribbon windows that run unbroken from corner to corner (but not over them, thus preserving the integrity of the sides of the square).” Marvin Trachtenberg and Isabelle Hyman .
