در این مطالعه، پردازش زیبایی‌شناختی مجازی معماری‌ها مختلف با روش پتانسیل رخدادی بررسی می‌شود. داده‌های پتانسیل رخدادی طی یک دسته‌بندی گردآوری شدند. برای گردآوری آنها، از شرکت‌کنندگان تحقیق خواسته شد که دسته‌های مختلف تصاویر اشیای موجود در زندگی روزمره‌شان و تصاویر معماری را در زودترین زمان ممکن از هم تفکیک کنند. تصاویر معماری دو دسته بودند:تصاویر طراحی شده توسط معماری برجسته و تصاویر معماری عادی. آثار معماران ماهر نسبت به آثار معمولی دامنه P2 کمتر و دامنه N2 بیشتری داشتند که نشان می‌دهد هیجان مثبت ادراکی و ادراک تازگی در پردازش زیبایی تصاویر معماری رخ داده است. نتایج ما دو شاخص عصبی حساس، یعنی P2 و N2، را به‌ترتیب برای قضاوت در مورد خصوصیات لذت و تازگی در تصویر معماری ارائه می‌کنند.

مطالعه ERP ما دو معیار سنجش حساس، P2 و N2، را به‌ترتیب برای قضاوت در مورد خصوصیات لذت و تازگی آثار معماری پیشنهاد کرد. گذشته از ادراک هیجانی، ناظرین در حین تجربه معماری مجازی تازگی را نیز پردازش می‌کنند. آثار معماری زیبا نه تنها هیجانات مثبت را بر می‌انگیزد که در دامنه محدودتر P2 منعکس می‌شود، بلکه با جلب توجه بیشتر سبب آغاز ارزیابی فاکتور تازگی می‌شود که در دامنه وسیعتر N2 منعکس می‌شود. این مطالعه راهنمای عصب‌شناختی طراحی معماری محسوب می‌شود.

The present study explored the implicit aesthetic processing of different architectures using an event-related potential method. Event-related potential data were acquired in a categorization task in which participants were asked to distinguish between two different categories of pictures of everyday life objects and the architectures as soon as possible. The architectural pictures included two categories: noted-architect-designed and ordinary architectures. A smaller P2 amplitude and a larger N2 amplitude were elicited by the master architects’ works than those of ordinary architectures, which indicated that perceived positive emotion and novelty perception occurred in the aesthetic processing of architectures. Our results present two sensitive neural indicators, P2 and N2, to judge the delight and novelty qualities shown by the architecture, respectively.

Conclusion

Our ERP study put forward two sensitive measurements, P2 and N2, to judge the delight and novelty qualities of the architectures, respectively. Besides the emotional perception, the novelty is also processed by beholders in an implicit architectural experience. Beautiful architectures not only arouse positive emotion as reflected by a lower P2 amplitude but also elicit novelty evaluation by allocating more attention as reflected by a larger N2 amplitude. This study provided neural guidance for architectural design.

Human evolutionary aesthetics is in many ways the study of humble everyday life – preferences and feelings evoked by a stimulus without selfconscious thought, and yet prevalent on an almost daily basis. While a recent trend in this line of research has been to focus on preferences related to sexual selection – mate selection, body composition, facial symmetry, and body movement analysis, quietly sitting in the shadows awaits an equally important area for the understanding of evolved aesthetic preferences – our (natural selection mediated) response to our physical environment. The current paper argues that a large part of the everyday aesthetic experience for humans involves a behavioral and emotional response to landscape. Since the selection of habitat was crucial in our evolutionary history, research on human habitat preference and perception is a vital area for the further understanding of evolved aesthetic tastes. A review of the major evolutionary theories and empirical evidence underlying habitat preference theory is given, ending with a discussion on the current status of habitat preference research and suggestions for future research directions.

Summary

The current paper argues that a large part of the everyday aesthetic experience for humans involves a behavioral and emotional response to landscape. Since the selection of habitat was crucial in our evolutionary history, research on human habitat preference and perception is a vital area for the further understanding of evolved aesthetic tastes. The authors focus on landscape perception as a feature of evolutionary aesthetics and strengthen the point that human aesthetic values are rooted on both social and environmental components. They discuss evolutionary theories of habitat preference and compare them with empirical data of studies which were conducted in the last 20 years, with a strong emphasis on the most recent studies. The discussed papers cover the fields of perception, landscape preference, behavioral and physiological reaction to the perceived environment and individual differences in habitat preference. The authors examine the gap between the empirical data and the underlying theories which initiated the studies in the first place and argue that not all findings are consistent when compared on a bigger scale. However, they try to mediate between theory and empirical data and conclude with thoughts and future research directions to close the gap in our understanding of landscape perception.

در این مطالعه مفاهیمی پایه‌ای وجود دارند که پیش‌زمینه مسائل مرتبط با محیط مصنوع و تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی را شکل می‌دهند، تجربه ای که انسان ها از دیدگاه پدیدارشناسی و اجتماعی-فرهنگی بدست می‌آورند. زیبایی شناسی علمی‌ست که به شناسایی و درک فاکتورهای می‌پردازد که در ادراک شی یا فرآیندی که زیبا انگاشته می‌شود یا تجربه لذت‌بخش می‌سازد، نقش دارند. زیبایی‌شناسی به درک توانایی انسان در ساختن و لذت مندی از آرایشی دلپذیر که به زیبایی ساخته شده نیز مرتبط است.
درک رابطه میان بشر، تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی و محیط مصنوع در واقع ریشه در درک بُعد فرهنگی دارد. چگونگی تاثیرگذاری انسانها و فرهنگشان روی ادراک و تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی مرتبط با محیط مصنوع و چگونگی تاثیرگذاری محیط مصنوع روی ادراک و تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی بشر در یک بافت فرهنگی خاص رویکردهای اصلی بنیادی تمام فرضیاتی اند که نویسنده افشا می‌کند.
رابطه بین این سه بُعد با نمونه‌هایی از «باگاس گودانگ ماندلینگ»، مانند محیط مصنوع و تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی‌ای که مردم از دید او در محیطشان با آن مواجه می‌شوند، شرح داده می‌شود. مهم‌ترین بُعد در این توضیح فرهنگ است که روی تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی بشر تأثیر می‌گذارد. به عنوان زیرمجموعه رفتار در روانشناسی، محیط را باید بُعد مهمی در طرح‌ریزی یک محیط معماری تلقی کرد و از این پس نباید آن را فقط اشکال فیزیکی دانست.

نتيجه‏ گيری

توضیحاتی با بهره‌گیری از باگاس گودانگ ماندلینگ به عنوان اشیای معماری مطالعه‌ای را شکل داد که در ارتباط با نحوه ادراک انسان از محیط مصنوع بود تا تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی داشت و در نهایت، بتواند ادراک خودِ محیط را هدف قرار دهد. در این مورد، چارچوب فرهنگی به این مطلب اشاره دارد که ارزش‌های زیبایی‌شناختی مفهومی مطابق با این چارچوب دارند. از طریق زیبایی‌شناسی نمادین و ظاهری که با استفاده از اشیای موردی قابل نمایش‌اند، ثابت می‌شود که هر دوی آنها می‌توانند خالق تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی باشند که غنادهنده زندگی بشر است. تجربه زیبایی‌شناختی ابعاد و حیطه‌ای دارد که قابل‌لمس نیست و از استدلال منطقی تبعیت نمی‌کند (ویریومورتونو ۲۰۰۱) طوری که بسیار ذهنی و شخصی‌ست.

Abstract

This study contains basic concepts which form the background of issues related to the built environment and aesthetic experience that are experienced by humans in the phenomenological and socio-cultural point of view. Aesthetics is related to the identification and comprehension of factors giving contributions to perception of an object or a process considered beautiful or giving pleasant experience. Aesthetics is also related to the comprehension of human’s ability to create or enjoy the arrangement which is pleasant and created aesthetically.
The comprehension of the relation among humans, aesthetic experience, and the built environment is actually rooted in the comprehension of cultural aspect. How humans and their culture influence perception and aesthetic experience towards the built environment and how the built environment influences perception and human’s aesthetic experience in certain cultural context are the main approaches serving as the basis for all premises revealed by the writer.
Interrelation among the three aspects is described by using examples from Bagas Godang Mandailing as a built environment and aesthetic experience that is experienced by Mandailing’s people in their environment. The most important aspect in this expalanation is the culture that influences human’s aesthetic experience. As a part of a sub system of behaviour in psychology, environment must be viewed as an important aspect in planning an architectural environment and environment is no longer regarded as physical shapes only.

Conclusion

An explanation using Bagas Godang Mandailing as an architectural objects constitutes a study towards how humans perceive their built environment so they will have aesthetic experience and finally, it can aim at perceiving the environment itself. Cultural framework in this case aims at the statement that aesthetic values have contexts in accordance with the framework. Through symbolic and formal aesthetics which are shown by using case objects, it is proven that both of them can give aesthetic experience which enriches human’s life. Aesthetic experience has dimensions and a scope which is untouchable and is not controlled by logical reasoning (Wiryomartono, 2001) so it is very subjective and personal.
