چکیده

این پژوهش به بررسی نگرش والدین نسبت به آموزش مسائل جنسی در سطح آموزشی پیش دبستانی در مدارس کشور غنا می پردازد. نمونه پژوهش از میان تمام 100 والد از سنین 20 تا 60 سال با سوابق اجتماعی –اقتصادی مختلف انتخاب شد که از 64 مرد و 36 زن تشکیل می شد. جدا از این تعداد، 63% در نواحی شهری ساکن هستند، درحالیکه 73% در نواحی روستایی ساکن هستند. نتایج نشان می دهد که حدود 58% از والدین نگرش ناموافقی نسبت به آموزش جنسی در مدارس پیش دبستانی دارند. جای تعجب نیست که تمام والدینی که این نگرش نامطلوب را دارند گفتند که آموزش مسائل جنسی به بچه های پیش دبستانی خیلی زود است. با اینحال، از میان والدینی که نگرش مطلوبی به این آموزش داشتند، 81% نشان دادند که کودکان این روزها بیشتر در معرض این مسائل هستند.17% تصدیق کردند که آموزش مسائل جنسی به کودکان مفید خواهد بود و 2% گفتند بچه ها درهر حال در مورد مسائل جنسی از والدین خود می پرسند و باید جوابی به آنها داده شود. در آخر، نتایج نشان داد که تفاوت جنسیت و همچنین تفاوت محل سکونت هیچ تاثیری بر نگرش والدین نسبت به آموزش مسائل جنسی ندارد. با اینحال، سطح تحصیلات والدین بر نگرش آنها نسبت به این موضوع تاثیر می گذارد. استنباط از یافته های این پژوهش مورد بحث قرار گرفته است.

مقدمه

در کشور غنا، تلاقی عوامل فرهنگی، مذهبی و جغرافیایی محیط حساسی را ایجاد می کند که در آن برای چندین دهه مسائل بهداشت جنسی و تناسلی تا حد زیادی یک تابو باقی مانده است (مک ، 2011). سلامت جنسی در همه جای دنیا عامل تعیین کننده مهمی در باروری و رشد ملی است. با اینحال، بنظر می رسد اشاره صرف به “سکس” احساس شهوت را در میان جوانان و افراد مسن بر می انگیزد. بزرگترها در جامعه غنا معمولا ً از بحث در مورد موضوعات جنسی با جوانان روی گردانند. از گذشته کودکان با نظم و انضباط سخت گیرانه و ترس پرورش یافته اند و بخصوص دختران بخاطر پرسیدن در مورد این مسائل از والدین خود تنبیه شده اند ( بروکاتو و دوامنا- آبوجی ، 2007). در نتیجه، جوانان می ترسند در مورد مسائل جنسی بپرسند زیرا این رفتار آنها بی احترامی تلقی خواهد شد و آنها سرکش بنظر خواهند رسید؛ مسائل جنسی موضوعاتی هستند که تنها بزرگسالان درمورد آن بحث و گفتگو می کنند.

5- نتیجه گیری

این پژوهش مبنایی علمی و نه نظر اجتماعی در مورد نگرش والدین نسبت به آموزش مسائل جنسی در سطوح آموزشی پیش از دبستان در کشور غنا ایجاد کرده است. همانطور که در بسیاری از حوزه های پژوهش، حوزه آموزش مسائل جنسی بخصوص برای پیشرفت ملی اهمیت دارد. بعنوان بعدی از رشد، انکار ارتباط آن در جامعه ضد باروی در جامعه خواهد بود. آموزش تمام رده ها باید برای افرادی که آموزش دیده اند سودمند باشد و باید در بسیاری از شیوه ها تاثیر مثبتی برای جامعه و در مقیاس بزرگ تر به ارمغان بیاورد.
بدیهی است که روابط جنسی موضوعی حساس در جامعه ماست و ما باید مطمئن شویم که والدین در گفتگو در مورد مسائل جنسی نقش دارند؛ بخصوص سن آموزش مسائل جنسی باید در مدرسه آغاز شود. اگرچه این پژوهش این نکته را قابل توجه دانسته است که والدین با آموزش مسائل جنسی در سطح آموزشی پایین تر از ابتدایی موافقت نمی کنند، با این وجود موافق با آموزش مسائل جنسی در سطوح بالاتر از ابتدایی هم نیستند. از اینرو این پژوهش بر رابطه آموزش مسائل جنسی با والدین در این کشور تاکید دارد.

Abstract

This study investigates parental attitude towards sex education at the lower primary level of education in Ghana. In all 100 parents ranging from 20 to 60 years, with diverse socio-economic backgrounds consisting of 64 males and 36 females where sampled for the study. Out of this number, 63% reside in urban areas, whereas 37% reside in rural areas. The results indicate that about 58% of parents have an unfavourable attitude towards sex education in lower primary schools. Unsurprisingly, all the parents who held unfavourable attitude towards sex education said that children are too young for sex education at the lower primary school level. However, of the parents who held favourable attitude; 81% indicated that children are exposed a lot these days. 17% admitted that sex education will be helpful to the children and 2% said children ask questions about sex anyway and needed to be provided with answers. Finally, the results showed that there is no gender difference in parental attitude towards sex education, as well as no residency difference about sex education. However, there was a difference in parental attitude in connection to their educational level. The implications of the findings from this research are discussed.

1- Introduction

In Ghana, a confluence of cultural, religious and geographical factors creates a sensitive environment where issues of sexual and reproductive health have remained highly a taboo for decades (Mack, 2011). Sexual health is an important determinant of productivity and national development everywhere. Yet, the mere mention of “Sex” seems to evoke itchy feelings among both the young and old. Adults in the Ghanaian Society have usually refrained from discussing sexual matters with the young. Traditionally, children are brought up with strict discipline and fear and are punished for questioning their parents, especially the girls (Brocato & Dwamena- Aboagye, 2007). Consequently, young people are afraid to ask questions relating to sexual issues as they would be seen as “disrespectful” and “disobedient-” sexual issues are seen as topics for adult discussions only.

5- Conclusion

The study has provided an empirical basis, and not societal opinion about the attitude of Ghanaian parents towards sex education at the lower primary level of schooling. As in many areas of research, the area of sex education is particularly important to national progress. As an aspect of development, denying its relevance in society will be counterproductive. Education of all sorts should be beneficial to the individual who is being educated and should in many ways bring a positive impact to the community and the society at large.
Obviously, sex is a sensitive topic in our society and we must make sure that parents are involved in the dialogue on sex; especially the age sex education should start in school. Although the study has brought to the fore that parents do not subscribe to sex education at the lower elementary school level, they nonetheless favour sex education at the upper primary level. This therefore underscores the relevance of sex education to parents in the country.

دسترسی کودکان به دانش جنسی همیشه «خطرآفرین» بوده و با توجه به ارتباط زیاد دوران کودکی و مسائل جنسیت، تبدیل به مسئله‌ای بحث‌برانگیز شده است. محققان، با انتخاب گروهی از کودکان و والدین آن‌ها، ارتباط بین خطرات و روش‌های آگاه کردن کودکان از مسائل جنسی را بررسی می‌کنند. در این مطالعه دو مسئله اصلی مورد بررسی قرار می‌گیرند: نگرانی والدین درباره آموزش مسائل جنسی به کودکانشان و نحوه شرح فعال ارتباطات و دانش جنسی با استفاده از اطلاعات پراکنده. نویسندگان مقاله معتقدند که شکل غالب دوران کودکی و معصومیت این دوران، آموزش ارتباطات بین مسائل جنسی، جنسیت و مسائل اخلاقی را بلااثر می‌کنند. آن‌ها دغدغه‌های والدین برای حفاظت از کودک و روش‌های تأثیرگذار آموزش مسائل جنسی به کودکان را نیز موردمطالعه قرار می‌دهند.

(رابینسون ، آماده ارائه در آینده). بحث‌ها درباره اینکه چه کسی وظیفه دارد دانش جنسی را در اختیار کودکان قرار دهد، چه سنی برای بیان این اطلاعات خاص مناسب است و آیا این آموزش‌ها باید در خانه ارائه شوند یا در مدرسه، ادامه‌دارند. فرض بر این است که وظیفه این نوع آموزش عموماً بر دوش والدین است ولی مدارس نیز محل‌هایی برای ارائه آموزش مسائل جنسی و ارتباطات جنسی هستند. تدریس این موارد مشکلات و نگرانی‌هایی برای بیشتر والدین و معلمین به همراه دارند. این نگرانی‌ها ریشه در خودداری خانواده و مدرسه از آموزش مؤثر مسائل جنسی به کودکان دارد. نتیجه‌گیری

ضروری است والدین برای افزایش اعتماد، دانش و انعطاف‌پذیری کودکانشان با بهترین روش ارائه اطلاعات جنسی، حمایت‌شده و آموزش ببینند. حمایت و آموزش زمانی سخت می‌شود که ارتباط بین کودکی و مسائل جنسی تبدیل به موضوعی خصوصی می‌شود و فرصت‌های کمی رخ می‌دهد که والدین و معلمین بتوانند دراین‌باره بحث‌های دوستانه و صادقانه انجام دهند. بعلاوه ارزش‌های اجتماعی-فرهنگی غرب باعث سرکوب چنین گفتگوهایی می‌شود و فرقی ندارد که این گفتگوها بین بزرگ‌سالان، یا بزرگ‌سالان و کودکان باشد. در تحقیق ما مشخص شد که والدین آموزش جنسی کودکان را کاری خطرناک می‌دانند. کارهایی که والدین در این حوزه انجام می‌دهند به‌شدت تحت تأثیر گفتمان‌های غالب کودکی و معصومیت این دوران است. والدین کاملاً آگاه بودند که باید آموزش زودهنگام مسائل جنسی را به کودکان خود شروع کنند تا سواد جنسی‌شان شکل‌گرفته و قادر باشند با مظاهر فرهنگی جنسیت و تمایلات جنسی کنار بیایند. بیشتر والدین به دلیل اینکه فکر می‌کردند مهارت لازم برای آموزش مسائل جنسی را به کودکانشان ندارد ابراز نگرانی می‌کردند.

Abstract

Children’s access to sexual knowledge has always been considered ‘risky’ and controversial due to the fraught relationship between childhood and sexuality. Based on focus groups with children and their parents, the authors explore the relationship between risk and regulation associated with providing children with accurate knowledge about sexuality. Two main issues are examined: parents’ anxieties associated with educating their children about sexuality; and how children actively build narratives around relationships and sexual knowledge based on the fragments of information available to them. The authors argue that dominant constructions of childhood and childhood innocence negate the effective education of children around sexuality, gender and ethical relationships. Additionally, they examine the tensions that exist for many parents around the discourse of child protection and the ways in which this impacts on their education of young children about sexual matters.

Children’s access to knowledge about sexuality and ethical relationships has crucial implications for their health and well-being, not just in the early years but also throughout their lives. This knowledge can build children’s competencies and resilience, contributing to new cultural norms of non-violence in gendered and sexual relationships. It also develops children’s capacity to understand their own sexual subjectivity, which is critical for fostering their literacy with regard to sexual knowledge and is essential to their rights as sexual citizens (Robinson, forthcoming). However, debates continue about whose role it is to provide children with sexual knowledge, at what age it is appropriate to impart certain information, and whether this education should take place in the home or in schools. This area of education has been generally considered parents’ responsibility, but schools have increasingly become sites for the introduction of sexuality and relationships education. For many parents and educators, teaching children about these issues is fraught with difficulties and anxieties. These tensions can result in the family or schooling avoiding or not effectively addressing sex education with children (Robinson & Davies, 2008a; Goldman, 2010).

Conclusion

In order to contribute to children’s confidence, competence and resilience it is critical that parents are supported and educated about how best to communicate information about sexual matters to their children. This becomes difficult when the relationship between childhood and sexuality is one that is considered a private matter and is so regulated that there are few opportunities for parents and educators to have frank and honest discussions about these issues. In addition, western sociocultural values often contribute to the silencing of such conversations whether they are between adults, or adults and children. Educating children about sexuality was considered risky business by parents in our research. Parents’ practices in this area were heavily influenced by dominant discourses of childhood and childhood innocence. Parents were often acutely aware that it was critical to begin educating their children early about sexual matters to build their critical literacy in order to counteract popular cultural representations of gender and sexuality. However, many parents were concerned that they do not have the skills to teach their children about sexuality.
